After Sales Support

Your Nova2 carbon rims and wheelsets feature a carbon fiber brake track are subject to wear.

We recommend that to ensure longevity and safe riding in all conditions, special precautions should be taken into consideration.

Your Nova2 carbon fiber braking surfaces should be inspected at regular intervals to ensure that they are flat, free of debris, and wearing evenly.  In order to ensure the maximum lifespan and performance from the carbon fiber braking surface, use only Swissstop Black Prince or Swissstop Yellow King brake pads in your bike.  To eliminate premature wear of the brake track, inspect your brake pads regularly and clean any embedded debris from the pads.  When brake pads reach the wear indicator line, replace your brake pads.

In order to inspect your brake track for wear:

  1. Visually inspect carbon braking surface and wipe surface clean with a soft cloth
  2. If rim shows notable cupping, grooves, or consistent wear through multiple layers of carbon fiber, call one of our Nova2 tech guys before riding your wheels again
  3. After you’ve ensured that there is nothing on the brake track that could cut you, run your fingers over the brake track
  4. To clean your brake track use rubbing alcohol or a similar non greasy acetone based cleaner with a soft non-abrasive cloth and rub vigorously till brake track is clean.
  5. If brake track feels consistent in elevation and texture, go ride. If the brake track has any irregular bumps or wear, Do not ride! Contact one of our Nova2 tech Guys to arrange an evaluation.
  6. Using a non-carbon specific brake pad or brake pads from other manufacturers will void your 1 year limited warrantee.

When replacing your brake pads:

If your pads slide out towards the front of the bike then the brake pad carriers were installed incorrectly. Reverse the direction of the pad carriers so the pads can only be removed when pushed or pulled towards the back of the bike frame. If you are not confident that you can complete this installation properly, please ensure that you contact one of our Nova2 Tech guys to assist you with the correct installation!
